The SM15T36CA is a Transil™ bidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor. The Transil diode provides high overvoltage protection by clamping action. Their instantaneous response to transient overvoltage makes them particularly suited to protect voltage sensitive devices such as MOS Technology and low voltage supplied IC's. The SM15T Transil series has been designed to protect sensitive equipment against electrostatic discharges according to IEC 61000-4-2 and MIL STD 883, method 3015 and electrical over stress according to IEC 61000-4-4 and 5. This device is more generally used against surges below 1500W (10/1000μs). The planar technology makes this device suitable for high-end equipment and SMPS where low leakage current and high junction temperature are required to provide reliability and stability over time.
